Today I experienced a complete change of attitude of someone towards me. He never calls my name, he never talk to me, he never smile to me, he never being friendly to me but just now he called my name, smiled to me and said congratulation! I think this is all because of a letter from JPA. If he knows I am not still burdened with both exams, maybe everything will still be the same like in the past.
Similar case was happened in the past. My classmate's mum was my school teacher, everytime we greet her she won't respond to us, she responds just to certain people. However right after the SPM result is out, everything changes. When I went to that classmate's house to go together by his dad's car(my school's principal) to a program meant to expose us to life of doctor in hospital, surprisingly her mum knows my name, talks to me, smiles to me, etc.
So lesson of the story, it is always good to be extraordinary. I hope to be so always because by this, everyone loves you :p

How to make people who seldom or never talk to you to come to you?
How to make people who seldom or never talk to you to come to you?
- You need to be have some special abilities, some extraordinary talents that they don't possess
- You need to be rich, having a lot of money, credit card, etc
- You need to have sth special that they don't have
By this no matter how, those thick-faced will come to you.
Despise these people and please, if you seldom or never talk to me, don't suddenly become my best friend when you need me, I don't have special abilities and talent, I don't have money, I have nth, ok?

Classification of juniors
Type 1
They are just like your best friends, always keep in touch, chatting and outing
Type 2
Do not always keep in touch but when you meet face to face, they are like friends
Type 3
They say hi to you only when they need your help.
Type 4
They are like strangers. They never say hi to you as if you are transparent.
Among Malaysian juniors, Type 1 I had. Type 2, 2.5, 3 and 4 I have. Most annoying type? Type 3 or 4! LOL

Mum's birthday
July 1, it was my mum's birthday. Did not able to talk to her as Voipbuster is down. Just sent her a message. Weird, she did not reply, sent her a msg to ask her sth yesterday too, no reply as well, weird3.
I am not going to write here what I wanna say to her as she won't read my blog because she doesn't know how to online. Unbelievable? Haha, believe it, even my younger brothers don't(or rarely) use internet too.
Last month I was at Charles Square, sitting and studying physiology. There is a fountain:
but unlike in the picture, there is no water when I was there. A little boy (2 or 3 year old I think)was in the fountain(emptied without water) played with a filled water bottle, poured water into the fountain, kneed down and played with the water. His mum got so mad when she saw that. She shouted at him, spank his butt hard, picked up the water bottle and threw it into dustbin. The little boy cried and said sth I don't understand. Her mum said 'Nechci tě(I don't want you)' but at the end carried the boy out of the fountain(it is about 40cm deep so the boy couldn't leave on his own).
The mum and boy really made me smile.
Nechci tě. How many times did my mum say this to me? Mums are all the same!

Half done with my visa!
Phew visa is half done! Half done because I still need to collect it maybe weeks later. I made a stupid mistake this morning, I forgot to bring my passport. In the end the police did not even check my passport, LOL
I feel grateful as we don't have to line up for the whole night till the next day evening. Can you imagine we had to queue for the visa application for almost 20 hours before this year? I already queued for thrice but this is still ok, some of us queued for more than thrice. Poor those who still need to queue for the whole night. Yes we are foreigner but we are not animals.
Just 2 more idiotic troubles to go before I can fully concentrate on my formidable biochemistry and physiology:
-Buy white tops, pants and sandals for clerkship next week.
-Clerkship last for a week next week(may it be a nice one)

Garpu, Almari
Today I went for movie with my Portuguese juniors Mariana and Joana. On our way back home, Joana asked me how to say fork and cupboard in Malay. I was wondering why because usually people ask how to say hello, bye, thank you, I love you, etc. When she said sth similar to garpu(fork in Malay) and almari(cupboard in Malay), only I realised what is going on. I feel so stupid, haha.. And she polished my history :p

Perkataan pinjaman dalam bahasa Melayu
http://lincahtaiping.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/perkataan-pinjaman-dalam-bahasa-melayu/
Let me take part of that post:
3.4. Perkataan asal dari bahasa Portugis
Orang Portugis menduduk Melaka selama satu abad sejak dari tahun
Masihi 1511.
perkara baru.
Contoh : almari, bendera, meja, boneka, garpu, keju, kemdeja, sepatu,
tinta, gereja, paderi, meriam, peluru, minggu, picu, roda, bomba
And this:
Contoh : Bahasa Cina : angpau, beca, cawan, dacing, pecai, samseng,
sempoa, tauge, tauhu, tauke, toko, tukang, tong, teko, mi, tocang
Bahasa Tamil : batil, kari, manikam, kapal, tirai, badai, tose,
cerpu, katil, perisai, talam, pingga,
Bahasa Hindi : acar, bakdul, kunci, dobi, lada, marmar, neraca,
pateri, roti, tala, topi
I did not there are more than 10 Malay words originate from Chinese word! Haha.. Except for angpau, tauhu, tong, mi (and possibly tauge, teko, samseng) I have no idea from which Chinese word the rest originate from. Haha
Nice!

Mistakes . Troubles
3 days ago I decided not to take physiology exam this week. Yes, again! You see, this second year of study I make a lot of mistakes, mistakes after mistakes, it just seems it doesn't end, how to STOP them?
First mistake- Opt to take biochemistry final exam first
Second mistake- After discard biochemistry date, I choose to take physiology first
I had two chances to mend my mistakes but I did not mend it
For first mistake, I should have switched to physiology immediately after I failed my credit test. If I make this decision and if I am lucky, by July 10 I am free of exams.
For second mistake, I should have just listened to Idham, etc to continue studying biochemistry. If I make this decision and if I am lucky, I can finish one exam in June and go back home till mid August and take physiology exam.
I DID NOT!
Now I have to take my exams on:
July 31: Biochemistry (it is so-called biochemistry but it consists of physical, inorganic and organic chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, microbiology, endocrinology, clinical chemistry.. What a HELL!)
Aug 25: Physiology
I need to pass both exams at my first attempt! Scary!
I did not study after I decided not to take physiology exam.. I just couldn't study anything. Lack of fighting spirit. How pathetic am I. Just now I start studying again- Cell cycle and its regulation. Took me around 3 hours, bloody hell, I feel so stressful while reading it! And this topic is just one question out of 136.. About 50 questions are '1 question, 1 chapter', the Institute thought we have just biochemistry this year or maybe they thought we are going to become chemist NOT doctor.
Anyway, physiology and biochemistry are not the only two things that are troubling me right now. I haven't renewed my visa and my landlord is terribly idiotic. He said he will be at the office at 2pm and I waited till 2.45pm, I feel like driving a tram and bang him! I need to go for hospital training next week, yet I haven't got everything ready, where to buy this, what to buy, etc.. The exchange rate keeps dropping too! Oh gosh..
Why everything seems go against me?
Just hope that everything will turn out ok :)

I read the blog post I wrote after I passed my anatomy final exam just now.. There is one sentence I wrote:
So to prevent this to happen again, I really need to study hard.. I talk to myself, if I pass my first year, next year I won't be lazy anymore, I will study hard since Day 1, no more last minute effort...
Now I feel so ashamed of myself.

This day on 365 days ago
This day on 365 days ago.
It's a day I will remember forever.
For a miracle that happened.
For a success that achieved.
June 11, 2008.
I passed my anatomy final exam.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But today.
The day I should take my biochemistry final exam.
I quit, I postpone it.
Because I underestimate the difficulty of biochemistry
Because I am irresponsible
Because I am immature
Because I don't think twice before I choose my exam date
Because I don't have determination
Because I am just a loser
Sad
Sigh
:(
I seriously think I still did not realise my own mistake, when will I be fully awaken?

A Bridge Too Far
After days of torture I decide to postpone my biochemistry final exam which supposed to be on tomorrow. I had been thinking for past 3 days- 'Should I take the risk and take the exam without full preparation?'. For 3 days, in the daylight I was able somehow to convince myself that I can, but at night I felt depressed and scared. Past 3 days, I couldn't sleep well, I usually spent an hour before I turn asleep to think 'Should I send an email to Dr Vejražka and say I couldn't make it on Thursday?'.
3 days ago, I woke up spontaneously at 6am.
2 days ago, 5am.
Today, 4am.
From 4am, I took the list of final exam questions, read them and consider should I take it tomorrow. It was really painful. At last at 6am I decided to send an email to him.
Still, I continue my revision, thinking that he won't let me to discard my exam date. 10am, he replied my email. He told me he had discarded the date for me and told me the next date will be on next Wed and the deadline to register will be tonight.
Phew. For a while. Thank you sir.
This decision also makes it for sure that I am not able to return home this year.
Haiz Xiang Yan, you are a coward, irresponsible and not persevering!

How to pass an exam easily?
How to pass an exam easily?
1. Photocopy or print all your books/notes on yellow paper(MUST be yellow, other colour won't be effective)
2. Burn them
3. Mix it with water(or preferably Ginseng tea)
4. Drink it
For 100% you will pass!

Battle of IMB II
It was terribly scary. He asked me some questions that are so weird or not in the material the Institute provided.
I really thought he is going to fail me again and I felt so scared.
Luckily he did not. Thank you sir.
If there is one subject that is so hard for me to obtain the credit, it must be biochemistry.
Haiz, BBBB!

Exams oh exams
My initial plan was to take biochemistry final exam today, now I realised that I was too optimistic that time :( Institute of Medical Biochemistry thought we just study biochemistry in our second year of study, haiz
3 battles in 10 days, hopefully no more defeats. May it be 3 wins!

Devout? Pious?
I find it really funny and amusing when one is with fake devoutness or piousness. They keep talking about God(no matter what religion) but they don't practise what they should do if they are really that devout and pious. Funny soul.

My first failure in academic exam
Haiz I couldn't believe right now I am writing this. Never I fail a test/exam(even Theory of Musics that I don't know at all when I was in primary school) and just now I mark it an end. It was an oral exam though-Biochemistry practical credit exam.
When I got the questions, 3 altogether, I thought I was going to make it. When I was being examined, it really seems it is going to be that way. Question 1, ok. Question 2, ok. Question 3-Physicochemical propeties of urine. Measurement of osmolality of urine. You can see there are 2 parts in this questions. Part 1, ok. Unfortunately Part 2, the examiner wants me to tell him all 5 devices that are used to measure osmolality of urine and relative specific gravity of urine, I was just able to recall 3 of 5. He then explained the rest to me.
Then he asked for my name, I really thought he was going to give me credit. He said, Q1 very good; Q2 just ok; Q3, not enough. So I cannot give you credit today, you need to come again. Haiz, I said nothing after that except 'Thank you sir'.
4 took this exam today and I was the only who failed it. What a great disappointment. Maybe God want to warn me that reading just sutra is not enough, I need to read biochemistry and physiology even harder.
Hopefully I come back stronger.

Bye dissection!
Phew at last comes the end of the dissection course today, my job as tutor in the dissection room is finally done! I think I am a really bad tutor, not only just less-experienced but also don't know a lot of things. Forgive me, juniors.

I have a cousin in Prague :p
2 days ago in the lecture hall of Institute of Physiology, I was waiting for the lecture to be started. Bahareh(She is of Iranian origin but stays in US) came later and said 'Hi cousin!'. First I thought I heard that wrongly, I mumbled 'Cousin?' for several times, trying to figure out why but I failed, so I asked her 'Cousin? Why cousin?'
She said 'We have the same last name!'
'Oh ya! Haha.. Hello cousin!' I replied.
Don't get it? Haha.. The reason why we have the same last name is:
Her last name is Sianati while 'Sia' is quite similar to my 'Xiang(although this is not my surname:p)'. So we are really 'cousin', haha..
